The Patient Advocate Insider (PAI) is an on-line course that provides training for people who are caring for a loved one who is a surgery patient. We do this in the form of an on-line, self-paced course, a private Facebook group, an ebook, workbook, regular Q & A sessions and by offering one-on-one coaching.

Created by Keith L T Alexander, a parent of a child that underwent 23 surgeries between 2001 & 2017, this on-line program teaches those who are with their loved one in a hospital how to get them better medical care during their stay.

There are 50 million surgeries performed in the US each year. Of those, nearly 400,000 patients die from medical mistakes. Poor communication between members of the medical team and prolonged hospital stays can all make your loved one worse.  How can you tell if the hospital or doctor are profiting directly from your loved one’s illness? What are all those machines around my loved one’s hospital bed? What choice do you have if the doctors want to keep your loved one in the hospital” just for observation”?

“Our current health care system delivers great services, however, isn’t there always room for improvement, especially when our loved ones are patients?” said Alexander. “Hospitals are great for acute issues, but ultimately a loving home is where the healing happens, not in a hospital,” said Alexander.

Its vision for the future, according to Alexander, is “that by 2025, The Patient Advocate Insider: How to Advocate for A Loved One and Get Better Care, has helped over 100 million families and is now obsolete. That its contents are used so frequently that loved ones everywhere have elevated the standards of patient care in hospitals all over the world.”
